Trauma-informed, relationship-led support for schools and organisations across Ireland

I work with primary and post-primary schools, ETBs, education centres, charities and community organisations across the Republic of Ireland to strengthen relational practice, belonging, emotional safety and sustainable whole-organisation change.

As an Irish educator and former school leader now working across education, consultancy and systems change, I understand the importance of support that is grounded in the realities of Irish schools and communities—not simply imported from another system.

Every programme is independently developed and delivered through Healing Young Hearts and tailored to the context, strengths and priorities of the people involved.

Support shaped around your context

Whole-school professional learning

Accessible, reflective and practical learning that helps staff connect evidence with the everyday realities of classrooms, corridors, relationships and student support.

Possible areas include

  • Understanding trauma, stress and the developing brain
  • Relationship-led approaches to behaviour
  • Regulation, co-regulation and readiness to learn
  • Belonging, inclusion and emotional safety
  • Attachment and developmental trauma
  • Neurodiversity-affirming practice
  • Staff wellbeing and the emotional impact of the work

Sessions can be created for whole-school teams, leadership groups, student support teams, clusters of schools or wider professional networks.

Leadership and whole-school development

Support for principals, deputy principals and leadership teams who want to translate learning into consistent practice across the school or organisation.

This may include

  • Leadership professional learning
  • Review of culture, relationships and emotional safety
  • Policy and practice review
  • Whole-school implementation planning
  • Leadership coaching and reflection
  • Staff, student and parent voice
  • Support identifying priorities and meaningful indicators of progress

Healing Young Hearts Implementation Partnership

A longer-term, collaborative partnership for schools and organisations that want to embed change thoughtfully and sustainably.

A partnership may include

  • An initial review of strengths, needs and priorities
  • A shared implementation plan
  • Regular in-person visits
  • Online consultation and coaching between visits
  • Professional learning linked to emerging needs
  • Support aligning policy, language and everyday practice
  • Staff and student engagement
  • A final learning and impact review

The exact structure is designed with each school, ETB or organisation rather than imposed as a fixed programme.

Regional, community and multi-agency support

Healing Young Hearts can also support work that extends beyond one school or service, including:

  • ETB or regional professional learning programmes
  • Education centre events and learning series
  • Community and youth-sector training
  • Multi-agency reflection and development
  • Conference speaking and keynote presentations
  • Facilitated leadership and strategy sessions

Reflective practice and supervision

Healing Young Hearts works with highly experienced supervisors who offer individual and group reflective practice for professionals undertaking emotionally demanding work.

Reflective practice can be arranged on its own, or built into a wider programme of support. Frequency and group size are agreed with each school or organisation.

Available for

  • Individual reflective supervision
  • Group and team supervision
  • Student support and pastoral teams
  • Designated Liaison Persons and Deputy DLPs
  • Leadership and senior teams

What the work is designed to strengthen

  • A shared understanding of behaviour, stress and relationships
  • Greater consistency across classrooms and teams
  • Stronger student belonging and participation
  • Leadership confidence and strategic clarity
  • More relational and inclusive policies
  • Staff reflection, wellbeing and sustainability
  • A realistic pathway from professional learning to implementation
